Editorial Policy
Last updated August 8, 2026
Detoxible covers health topics where accuracy matters. This page says how the content is made — including the parts that are not finished yet, because a policy that describes an ambition as a practice is worse than no policy.
Sourcing
We avoid hype and state uncertainty plainly. Where the evidence is mixed, the wording says so: the fasting timer’s milestones, for example, read “may begin”, “many people report” and “effects vary by study” rather than asserting a mechanism.
All 34 of our articles carry references. Each source is listed against the specific claim it supports, so you can check the pairing rather than take a list on trust.
Nothing is cited unless somebody has opened the source and confirmed it says what the article says. That rule is not decorative: while working through these, two guessed identifiers turned out to point at unrelated papers, and a plausible-looking author list was wrong. Every citation here was read.
Where a source disagreed with what we had written, we changed the article, not the source. Several figures moved as a result — nicotine replacement therapy improves quit rates by 50-70% rather than “roughly doubling” them, and delirium tremens follows alcohol withdrawal at 3 to 8 days rather than 48 to 72 hours.
Medical review
No article on this site has been reviewed by a medical professional. The content is written and edited in-house.
Where a topic can be dangerous — alcohol and other substance withdrawal in particular — the article carries a crisis and treatment helpline block and says plainly that stopping some substances suddenly can be dangerous. That is a safety measure, not a review.
If an article is ever medically reviewed, the reviewer and the date will be shown on it. Nothing shows one today.
Authors
Every article carries a named author with a bio.
